CBIC's Afterhours Passport Series Kickoff and 2011 Annual Meeting

You won’t need to pack your bags for this mini-vacation, but you will want to RSVP in advance as there are a limited number of seats aboard this party cruise, so to SPEAK!

Yes, CBIC and SPEAK! Language Center have partnered to bring the world to Charlottesville’s innovative tech and entrepreneurial crowd – a “staycation” of sorts with food, wine, music, travel-related trivia and prizes all while mingling with a savvy professional networking crowd! Come enjoy food from Orzo Kitchen and Wine Bar and a variety of Italian wines and beers from the Market Street Wine Shop! Wine specials will also be offered to guests who attend the event.

While guests enjoy Italian themed hors d’oeuvres and beverages, between 5:15 – 5:30, CBIC will hold its brief 2011 Annual Meeting* to elect its new board, then we’ll carry on with the evening’s festivities through 7:30PM.

The Passport Afterhours is a series of three networking socials hosted by CBIC and SPEAK! over the next 8 or so months, each to feature the sounds, tastes, and sights of a different culture such as Italy, Germany and France!

Guests will receive a "passport" at the events. Those who attend all 3 in the series will be entered into a special drawing for a grand prize; a $250 WishWishUSA experience of your choice...for example a balloon ride, fly fishing trip, gourmet dinner at home...so many choices! Guests who attend 1 or 2 of the 3 will be entered into a drawing for a $50  WishWishUSA  experience of your choice like Play On! Theater tickets, wine tasting, dancing lessons, etc.

* Between 5:15 – 5:30, CBIC will hold its brief 2011 Annual Meeting. The purpose of the Annual Meeting is for members of the Council to: elect a Board of Directors for the 2011-12 Council year; receive the Chairman’s report on the State of the Council as required by the Bylaws; and transact any other business that may properly come before the Annual Meeting. All CBIC members are encouraged to attend and are asked to fax a signed proxy – download at www.cvillebic.org – on or before August 30, to (434) 295-3144, whether attending the Annual Meeting in person or not.
